Dasiho Practical Plus - Hanwei Forge
The daishō literally "big and small", is a Japanese term referring to the traditional pair of edged weapons of the samurai. The daishō is composed of the long (greater than 60 cm) katana and the shorter (50 cm) wakizashi.
The Practical Plus Katana and Wakizashi provides a very economical cutting sword and Wakizashi but using more traditional fittings and construction methods. (comparing the practical katana)
The blades are forged and differentially hardened in the traditional claying method with a prominent hamon. The Practical Plus katana and Wakizashi features genuine Same (Rayskin) on the Tsuka, with a wrap (Tsuka-Ito) specially developed for its gripping qualities. The long tang is double-pegged for security.
The fittings of the Practical Plus katana and Wakizashi are decorated in a Japanese Dogwood motif with lion dog menuki, and the handsome Tsuba is of an iron sunburst design with a brass habaki.
